Today my fishing buddies were Gloria from Tijeras, New Mexico and Joe returning for a visit from Albuquerque, New Mexico. My buddy Buck wasn't doing anything for the day and decided to hang out and catch a few fish with us today. As it turned out Buck spent the day acting as mate driving the boat, clearing tangles and cleaning up fish blood, thanks Buck.

Started the day as usual getting the pogies on the beach down south of the steeple in Cocoa Beach and then off to Pelican flats we went. As we were heading offshore Gloria couldn't stop talking about her friend who had caught a sailfish in Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. Gloria said she had dreamed of catching a sailfish for herself. Funny how things work out cause later in the day Gloria got her wish and we darned near tripled up!

We slow trolled the pogies for the early part of the day and kept seven Kingfish for the table, just one shy of our limit. We decided to start trolling offshore and try to catch a few dolphin and it wasn't long before Joes rod was bowed up with a bailer, unfortunately the dolphin bite was slow and it turned out to be our only one. We found a rip in 140' and while crossing the rip we had a triple knock down and all three sailfish jumping astern. I grabbed the starboard rigger and set the hook on the first and handed the rod to Gloria. Joe grabbed the starboard flat line and got a couple of jumps out of his before the fish threw the hook and the third sailfish threw the hook before we could get the line released from the center rigger.

We ended up the day at the cities service tanker trying to catch and Amberjack and had one on but pulled the hooks.

A great day of fishing out of Port Canaveral and a dream come true for Gloria!
