Joe's first Sailfish and some tasty treats from the deep.

Today my fishing buddies were Joe Wright from New Mexico and a really good mutual friend Donnie Poston from Cocoa. The plan of the day was to drown a few ballyhoo for Mahi and do some deep drops for tilefish. The Mahi definitely were not cooperating today but we did get an opportunity to check another species of fish off of Joe's bucket list. We hooked a sailfish in 220' of water on a naked ballyhoo and after about a 20 minute fight I billed the fish, removed the hook and pulled him aboard for a few pictures and then back in the water to fight another day.

We also did some deep drops and were rewarded with three Golden tilefish from the deep for a really tasty dinner.

Final tally for the day:
1 Sailfish
3 Golden Tilefish
