The Belk family fishing trip

Today my fishing buddies were Mitchell and Melanie Belk along with Kenan Watts and his girlfriend Tiffiani Stevens for a half day offshore Port Canaveral. The weather today was absolutely beautiful with calm seas and light winds except that being in late summer the temperature was very hot.
Recently we have experienced an upwelling that has made the pogies very difficult to find, however, today we got lucky and were able to get a well full in between the port and the pier on the beach.
The bite was slow but steady, typical for the dog days of summer, but we were able to ice enough kingfish for a really good meal and then some. The highlight of the day was Keanan's 35 pound kingfish which was cut up into grillin steaks at the end of the day

Final tally for the day:
6 Kingfish kept for the table and one 35# trophy for Keanan
2 Sharks released.
3 Barracuda released.
1 Bonito released.

Keanan starts off with a Bonito.

Now you're talking we got a Kingfish for dinner!

Tiffani's first fish ever and we're taking this one home for dinner.

Keanan scores big this time with a 35# Kingfish

Mitchell catches a sizeable Barracuda.

Melanie adds one to the dinner menu.

Tiffani catches her second Kingfish.
