A half day birthday wish for Chris from Pam,
with a fish dinner to follow.

Today my fishing buddies were Pam Stern who booked today's half day trip to celebrate her boyfriend Chris Poker's birthday. Tagging along were friends Mike Shaper, Bob Halsey and Omar Acevedo. First order of business was to get pogies as usual and after tossing the net a half dozen times we were ready to go. Decided to return to the Lead wreck again since we had plenty of action there the day before and it is pretty much due east of Port Canaveral.
The kingfish bite was really slow today at the Lead wreck but the Cobia were hungry so we managed to ice two nice kings and a pair of decent Cobes for Chris's birthday dinner bash. Mike took some Dramamine but with the heat and the rockin and rollin he went down for the count shortly after our arrival.
To me the highlight of the day was the Cadillac red snapper caught by Omar caught on a slow trolled pogie with a wire leader meant for Kingfish. All I'll say is that the National Marine Fisheries Service has really missed the mark with the red snapper and it really upsets me to have to release a fish of a lifetime like this one Omar cauht today. SHAME ON YOU NMFS!!!
Anyway, a fun time was had by all with enough action on a half day trip to keep everyone busy and plenty of fish to have a birthday bash.

Final tally for the day:
2 Kingfish.
4 Cobia . Two keepers and the rest released to grow up.
1 Red Snapper released only because of the NMFS stupidity
1 Bonito released.
2 Barracuda

A picture of Omar's Bonito and then back in the water.

Mike's not feeling so hot and the Dramamine doesn't help.

An undersized Cobia comes alongside.

Omar is bowed up on a mystery fish.

The mystery fish is a nice Red Snapper, caught on a
slow-trolled pogie on a wire leader meant for Kingfish.

Bob gets a nice sized Barracuda.

Chris gets a keeper Cobia for his birthday.
