Boys day out for some fun in the sun!

Today my fishing buddies were folks that have fished with me a bunch of times in the past. Timmy fished with me on the other side last year and was able to catch a Marlin and some Mahi was back in town and looking to go fishing if I had a trip where he could help another group with the expenses if they'd let him come along and as luck would have it Joe Wright was visiting from New Mexico and looking to bend a rod as well. I was also able to coax an old friend Mike Ullian into tagging along since he had coached far too many basketball games for his sons between trips and also had sold his offshore boat due to lack of use.
With the not really for hire crew set we met up at my place at 7:00 AM and set off for the deep blue sea (Pelican Flats) after a brief stop at the steeple for a little live bait. The action wasn't red hot but the temperature was and Joe, Mike and Timmy caught Jack Crevalle, Kingfish, a bailer Mahi, and a Cobia that wasn't quite grown up enough to go out to dinner with us.
It was really great to go have some fun with the guys and put a few groceries in the fish box for dinner.

Final tally for the day:
7 Kingfish .
1 Bailer Mahi.
1 27" Cobia tagged and released :( to grow up
3 large Jack Crevalle released to fight again.

Joe and Timmy with some groceries.

A triple header and good action aboard the Goin Off.

A large Jack Crevalle for Joe.

Mike bowed up getting the feel of things again after a long hiatus.

Joe battling his second large Jack Crevalle.

Quick picture and back in the water.

Joe gets a 27" Cobia, too small to keep :(
