Today my fishing buddies were good friend Ron Alford, Tim Moellenbrink and his friend Stephen Price who fished with me last year about this time for the first of two full days of fishing
    We picked up a live well pogies south of the Cocoa Beach pier and decided today to head out to 8A to get started. The weather in the morning was beautiful but with an easterly 3'-4' sea running. The Kingfish bite was pretty good and we caught our limit of kings in just over an hour and a half. Plan "B" was to head offshore and look for a catch of Mahi as well, unfortunately, all of the east wind in the last few days didn't blow in the weed line we were anticipating and there wasn't a real good temperature break between 130' and 550'. To make a long story short it was four and one half hours of trolling with only one knockdown to the tune of a 12 pound Mahi.

The seas laid down a little for the ride home and I spent the better part of two hours filleting today's catch, packing it in ice, and getting ready for day two of Ron, Tim's and Steve's two day adventure aboard the Goin Off.

Final tally for day one:
8 Kingfish between 8 and 15 pounds
1 12 pound Mahi-Mahi
